About Philip R Hoskins

“He’s the greatest. What more can I say?”

-Anonymous

Philip R Hoskins is a husband, father, brother, and human being. He is deceptively intelligent, unfailingly thoughtful, remarkably creative, and actually quite modest. He has created and enjoyed art his whole life. He happily lives along the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan with his stunning wife, his precocious daughter and son, and his aloof cat, Hobbes.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I believe art is a tool for communicating. Whether I am creating a party invitation, a commemorative poster, a children’s book, or simply a sketch for my daughter, my goal is convey a given message clearly and in a visually appealing way.

My inspiration comes at all hours and from everywhere. Rather than constraining an idea to the known parameters of a given medium, I enjoy starting with an idea and then creating my own method for bringing it to life.  This website is an example of that. I started with the idea to create a farcical pseudo-monument to my artwork, and found a way to create a world within this website in which my whimsical pieces are honored with prominent pillars and dignified awe. Or at least that’s the idea.

Thank you very much for your interest.
